Default EGR solenoid

1985 L98

My EGR solenoid is bad.
I'm looking for recommendations on where to get a replacement. I wasn't able to find it in any of the catalogs, so I searched online at the parts stores (autozone/napa/advanced auto), this is what I found:

Wells $15.99
G.P. Sorensen $43.99
Delco???

Where'd you guys buy yours? What's the delco part number? I'll probably end up getting the Sorensen part, but If the Delco is close in price I'll get that.

It isn't available from AC Delco, I already tried, it is discontinued. Try Ecklers, they occasionally have some NOS parts. If not, GP Sorensen parts aren't bad. I have a MAP sensor from them, EGR, etc., with no problems.

picked mine up at AutoZone for like $40? I forgot the price, but it was the price to pay since the old one completely seized up.

Free shipping over $50 and they shipped the same day, too.

The ACDelco unit for 93-96 is part # 214-396 (GM#1997223); about $25.00 + shipping.

I forgot to close out this thread, sorry.

I ended up getting the Delco from the local napa. Part number 214-331 (thanks CFI-EFI) for about $38. It's an '85 specific part I believe.
My old solenoid was stuck open, it would not hold a vacuum. The new one does. Thanks all for the input.

If you don't mind me asking, what were the driveability issues that led you to your solenoid?

Not sure who you addressed this to but:

In my case there was NO drivability issue, other than the Service Engine Soon dash light. Car ran fine without a hitch.

It was only after I went to AutoZone and had them pull the code that I learned it was EGR related.

I FINALLY RECEIVED THE SERVICE MANUALS FOR THE 1996 VETTE, and I began by following the trouble shooting directions. When it came to the part of using a hand held vacuum pump to test the EGR. I hit a brick wall.

AutoZone, O'Reilly's nor Pep Boys carried the pump, so I was relagated to being a "parts changer" - which I hate with a passion.

I bought and changed the solenoid (cheapest and easiest to swap out), but still got the code after clearning it.

Yesterday I ordered a new EGR valve, $65.xx, which should be here in a few days.

Failing that as the cure, I'll be back, open for suggestions.

One final option is to have Bryan turn it off in the PCM.

Just my tale.

Jake

I put on the new EGR Valve this afternoon - super simple.

Solved my problem.
