Default L98 TPI Runner Inside Diameter???

I am wanting to remove some dents in my 89 TPI runners and would like some input on the inside diameter of the runners. I measured the ID to be somewhere in the 1.475 to 1.480 inches which is about 37.5 mm. Does anyone have info on this? I know some people use a 1.500 inch ball. However, I do not plan to increase the ID of the existing holes. Thanks in advance

i was planning to buy 1 7/16 ***** and 1 1/2 inch *****, but i am still looking for a good place to get them direct(not from ebay) !! I tried the local hardwere stories which was VERY funny asking them for steel *****. The 4 teens behind the counter couldnt stop laughing and one even started crying he laughed so hard...

I have a contact/sorce with a NTN Bearings and I am trying to get the correct size ***** to do the job right. As for walking into a store and asking for some steel *****, I do not think I have the ***** to do this

I spent a few minutes with Gordon Killabrew about two weeks ago (at Mid America Funfest) and asked him how to remove the runner dents. He replied that the Bowling Green Vette assembly area had a rework tool for this purpose. The tool was a steel ball with a "T" handle welded to the ball. To remove the dents, you would push the ball into the tube (with a little lubricant) and then you have no dents. He did not know a source for the *****.

A steel ball with a OD of 1-7/16 inches will be too small and the OD of 1-1/2 inches will be too big. The right size will be 37.5 mm or 1.477 inches.....I think These sizes of steel ***** may be obtained from McMaster Carr supply and can be ordered on line.

They said, "*****" But seriously, Central Coaster has did this deed, and he said it stretches the tubes out a little bigger. Might have to do a search haven't heard from him in awhile...

I don't see that as being a bad thing.
