My fronts have a very minor flat spot in them (both)... A fault of mine that I'd like to forget about... Since the incident I have replaced all four tires. But even with the flat spot seeming so miniscule (1/16" to 3/32" max), they cause such a vibration that it is intolerable.....
Ive seen rims in much worse shape that were comparitively smooth rollers.. So I am perplexed...
The rims are chrome OEM for a '95, and I have talked to many wheel repair shops. Most outfits require the wheels to be re-chromed after the work making the repair as expensive as purchasing new rims...
Question for you experienced wheel mechanics is if there is a way to build up the bead on the rims ever so slightly as to avoid junking them???
what you are experiencing is the poopie end of owning chrome rims and it is cheaper to replace them because yes you do have to rechrome but at a significant cost , but you can also repair and have them painted try this link http://www.fixrim.com I have dealt with them and they do exceptional work and have a lifetime guarantee that they stand by no questions asked plus theyre only $109 to do the whole job
Prognosis... Whipped out the compressor and did some wheel cakewalking. I now am not convinced the wheels are the culprit...
I rotated the wheels and still have a prob... I got a feeling I have a bad hub... Interesting thing is I gave the car a brake job and have this nuisence squeek squeek when brakes are on... Me thinks the hub is bent and is causing my vibration along with the squeek squeek of the rotor due to run out...........
I am ordering a hub and will post my results... I know Ive seen many folks that have complained of unknown reasons for vibrations in their cars... Hubs run about $170 and figure with a 95 that 6 years of use is not all that bad. Even if it doesnt correct the prob, I have a spare when I do run into a hub problem.
