My car has been setting for the past 5 months. I have been away from home dealing with my Mother and her cancer.
I went out today to start it (after charging the battery) and it cranked up and then stopped.
Before I start checking things, could the fact that the car has sat so long could all the oil drain out and the car have no oil pressure? If when cranking the engine does the oil pressure build up?
With the key in the on position I hear the fuel pump energizing. When I press the schrader valve on the fuel rail nothing comes out. Should fuel squirt out?
I've got the GM service manuals but I was looking for the simple answer before I crack open the big book.
Check the oil level. Pressure will start to build when the engine is turned. There should be pressure at the schrader valve and a fuel pressure guage will confirm how much. Have you checked to see if it has gas in the tank? If there is gas and no pressure and the pump is working then there might me a kink, stopped up fuel filter, stopped up strainer or pulsator, or leaky FPR. Check the injector fuses too.
