Default Tunercat

If I get the tunercat software, what do I have to get to make it work with a 96 LT1. Do I need the WinFlash?
Where so I get the cable? Can I make from Radioshack stuff and what not?

Have a look at this thread here for cable making process and diagrams, but i dont know if it will work on a 96, they are OBD2.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1381422

So also have a look here:http://www.obd2allinone.com/

No you dont need winflash with Tuner Cat. BUT you have to make sure you have the right version of Tuner Cat and i havent seen one for a 96 yet.

I'm pretty sure with your 96 (OBDII), you'll need to get Tunercat's cable. Shoot them an email with any questions. Usually they are quick to respond.

To make tunercat work with a 96 you would need a new ECM.

He had OBD2 software but sold it to Jet.

That forum is to crazy and all over the place to make sense of a 96 corvette ecm. All it talks about is every year but 96 basically.

Alot of us look for clarity on the 96 issue.

There is plenty of easily-found information on the net for tuning these cars, all you have to do is search and read. If you can't be bothered to even wade through the FAQ, you aren't going to be very successful with tuning.

If you try looking for it you hit tons of dead ends! Ive been searching for a couple of days now but 96 seems to be the exception year.
95 stopped the standard burning process then 97 they got the LS1s so 96 is stuck in the middle.

Im new to the game I was hoping some could say I found a site the really helps. The forum stated is useless to a 96. Im willing ready but all I find is the same stuff everyone else is saying.

The 96 PCM flash tunes just like the 94/95 versions. Only difference, GM went to OBDII in 96.

96 and 97 LT1s are identical.

Well as for the corvettes they stopped the lt1 in 1996 right? And fbody continued it til 1997. But I can use the programmers for a fbody on a corvette? Why would they be seperate if they are the same thing?

Use LT1edit for the OBD2 cars. Im not sure if you can simply take the 96 ECM out and whack in a 95 ECM, but if you can do that, then you could use the $EE definition with Tuner Cat and use a regular 2 transistor type ALDL cable. Id imagine it would all work, but then again it may not. Someone will know.
