ok car stalls sometimes help..
92 six speed 95k on it. car is not driven very much. when i do it stalls sometimes.. i have had to hold pedal to floor to start, but when it does i get a nice cloud of black smoke. it has also sputtered going down road. this time i didnt hold to floor just let it crank. and it fired up smoked a bit and then it ran fine.. have not checked for codes yet.. that reminds me, sometimes i notice se light on, but not always.. can you help? erik

Sounds like there might be a fuel issue. I would check for codes, along with fuel pressure. Could be fuel pump, injectors ect. This would be a good place to start. If you dont have access to an FP gauge, check a local parts store - they might do it for free

Sounds like a possible leaking fuel injector. A gauge will allow you to monitor fuel pressure in the rail after key off. If it drops quickly that could indictate an injector that is stuck open but follow the steps in the FSM to isolate the reason for the pressure drop since it can also be caused by other problems, good luck.

Also check the fuel presure regulator, see if its the factory non adjustable one or if it has been replaced with an after market adjustable version. (if its adjustable make sure its set at the right setting)
Pull the vacuum line off the passenger side of the intake manifold (under the plastic injector cover) and make sure it isnt full of fuel. Ask 'Bogus' how he knows that can happen.
