Thanks for the reply. I'm wondering if it's time to replace the tps. It is 18 years old. I get a faster acceleration at 3/4 throttle and an erratic idle. An adjustable is cheaper than an new OEM. I also think that because of all the mods an adjustable might be a good idea, I don't know anything about them. Has anyone used one?
The "new OEM" TPS IS adjustable. Did you not understand my first post? Before you replace ANYTHING, test it. There is no point in replacing good, factory, OE parts, with questionable replacements. In fact there is no point in replacing good, functioning parts, at all.
CFI-EFI is right (he always is..). The TPS is always adjustable. The ecklers kit just includes a wiring harness that makes it easier to adjust to the correct output voltage by providing clips that can attach to the probes on your DMM.
Save your $; or, if they're really burning a hole in your pocket, you can always contribute to the save the "85 w/irregular idle" repair fund..rofl:
As stated, the TPS is already adjustable. About all that ecklers thing is good for is providing a place to connect your meter. And they already sell that in their tools section.
Your idle problem could be as simple as needing a good TB cleaning along with removing the IAC motor and cleaning it also.
