Default shortblock setups

As some of you know I purchased a used vortech kit about a month ago, which I plan to install this winter. I am considering going ahead and rebuilding the shortblock. I would like to reuse the heads I already have. They only have about 5,000-6,000 miles on them.
My question is, for a blower, what are the setups some of you are running and would recommend?
I plan to start around 6psi. But would like to be able to go up from there in time.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Keep your Cr at about 9.0. and use Blowerworks Water and Alki Injection System.
Regards

I have not ordered the water injection yet but I plan to. The compression at 9 to 1 is what I would like, but finding pistons that will work with stock heads and possibably a 396 crank I cant find. I did find 383 pistons which put me at 9 to 1 with a 58 cc head. I would like to hear about other combos to do this. ie. which pistons, rods, crank etc. And thanks for your input.

To get the lower compression with (or near) 56 cc heads, I have had to go to 5.875" rods. This is not always the case, but many times I have had to do this. My preference would be to stay with the longer 6" rod. I typically use J&E custom pistons to get the scr where I need it to be.

Additionally, to minimize material moved from the block, you will need to go with a high quality rod with a smaller "big end". This will typically save you from having to go to the small base circle cam as well. I like Oliver billit rods, but they tend to be pricey.

If you are thinking of Cometic MLS head gaskets, then this would be the time to have the block machined for them. It is near impossible to get the MLS gaskets to seal after you have been running traditional head gaskets for any amount of time.

Spend the money and do it right once, and it will last for many years.
