Default ECM location

OK, this should be an easy one, where is the ECM located in an 88 Roadster?

Let the troubleshooting begin :smash:

Thanks,

Mark

Mine is under the dash on the right hand side. Not real hard to get to if you are kinda flexible. Take off the plastic trim piece under the right dash, it has a little light built into it that you unplug when you get the panel unbolted. Then look up, you will see the wire harness/plug. It's a metal box a bit smaller than a cigar box.

It is above the passanger side underdash. Unscrew that footwell panel and you should see it. If I remember right, there are 2-4 screws to undo and the ECM will slide out (unhook connectors) from the tray.

Good luck.

First open the connector in the orange wire near the battery to remove power to the ECM.

Three screws hold the bottom pannel and two hold the ECM. Slide it down and remove the two screws and the Al access pannel. Undo the two latches to pop out the CalPac. Press in the new CalPac and assure that the two latches are firmly in place. Reverse the above steps.

Careful not move around on the carpet once the ECM is opened up...static electricity is your enemy.
