I bought one of those EGR hose covers that wrap around the hose so I dont have to take the hose off (my original cover is all torn up).
There is a very thin wire that is attached to the hose through a brass fitting/nut that needs to be removed first. I can't tell if the wire simply pulls straight out of the hose or it needs to be unscrewed where the brass fitting attaches to the hose?
Has anyone else put one of these on? Engine L98 Year 1986

Thank you
i just replaced mine, it had a cut out in it so you dont have to remove that wire.
the wire goes abt a foot to an electrical connector near the firewall...unplug the connector and unscrew the brass nut (it's got a small sensor built into it, your EGR sensor)...the wire does not swivel in or disassemble from the nut
is the cover that aluminun color one with the velcro closure? thats the one i got, but it had a cut in it. Probably the one you got should have had the cut, and it was an oversight. Anyway just a small slit will do.
I ordered this same part from Mid America Motorworks. I was looking at the hole and trying to determine what to disconnect. Mine did not have a slit. I will make the cut and let the velcro do the rest. Great post and great answers. This sure will clean up my engine bay.

On mine, you can do it either way. You can remove the whole plug or the wire actually screws out of the brass plug if you have it disconnect it from the other end and turn it with your fingers.
