Default Original spark plug wire looms

Hi all,
You guys are great and it's helping me out tremendously. Got the missing right cyl. head hardware coming in today for the 87'. Now I need to now how many wire looms I'll need to do the job right (it was mostly zip-tied before...). I know there was a 5 wire loom behind the distributor that doesn't attach to anything, but I'd like to know how many 2 and 4 wire looms I'll need on the left and right sides of the engine.

These plastic looms are the original factory plug-in to the sheet metal tabs on the side of the cylinder heads. Any help or what GM PN's these are, would be greatly appreciated. The local dealer isn't worth beans and even gave me the wrong part (a handful of three wire holders). Larry at Gilbert Chevrolet in Walla Walla Washington has been super helpful. He just needs to know how many 2 and 4 wire looms the 87 L-98 required. Thanks so much!

At work right now, but it seems to me there is 1,2 and 1,4 on each side.
Mines an 87 and I got them at a local dealer.

Thanks, Rick! I'm glad your local dealer supports ya (wish mine did). I'm inclined to think the same, but with the hardware missing off the cyl. head on the right side, it's kinda hard to tell. From looking at pics of the right side, it seems the wires in between 4 and 6 join up with 2 and go straight up over the valve cover. Or does 6 and 8 run together under the EGR tube (California L-98) that runs across the top of the valve cover? The left side is a no brainer. They all run 2, then 4, then to a 5 behind the distributor cap in a straight line, straight back. If you could take a lookee tonight at your 87 and let me know, I'd appreciate it. The factory manual I won on Ebay is on the way! Yay!

Go online to Eckler's Corvette Parts or Mid-America Motorworks (MAM). They both stock 'em.

That's it! Oddly enough, I have both catalogs and didn't see it in there, but found it on-line instantly. Thanks a bunch all, I'm ordering it today and will order 2 of the 2's and 4's and one of the 5's. Great place for newb's to get answers to some tough and sometimes dumb questions (I used the search before I asked).

Sincerely,

Regis aka F22

Can anyone list the part numbers for the metal parts that attach to the head?

I can't help with the PN's, but I do know that they are a 'discontinued' part from GM according to Larry at Gilbert Chevrolet. If you can't find NOS, your best bet would be to call a salvage yard like I did and have them pull all the sheet metal loom holders AND bolts off've the left and right cylinder heads. J&D Corvettes was very helpful. Some yards won't help with 'hardware'. Good luck!

Thanks Ray! The FSM is not here yet, but that sure helps us out (especially those whose cars have been touched by mechanics who don't care how the wires are routed).
