I have an accel super coil #140003. It says for basically every 4,6,8 cyl gm hei product car or truck from 1974-1987 EXCEPT corvette? What's up with that? What makes the corvette coil different? Is it just a space problem with the coil cover (missing from mine) or is there a REAL difference in the cap/coil for a corvette? Thought I'd use the super coil instead of having it collecting dust in the garage then I see the except corvette note... Drat.. Arlon
I recently bought a Hypertech coil/cap/rotor kit (part # 4052) and it all comes put together. I took the cover off the coil and noticed that the wires under the cap are red and yellow and the ones coming from my wiring harness are red and white. The summit site said this was good to go and the Hypertech site says the same. I haven't started it up yet because I am still rebuilding the motor, but now you have me wondering......is this going to be a problem?

It will run, but due to the reversed polarity, the spark may not be as hot for those tough firing situations. Either get the correct coil, or you can "crutch it" by getting a wrong ignition module with wire colors to match the wrong coil. Good luck replacing just one, next time.
