Default Water Pump Busted

Well I knew I needed to change the thing out before 60,000 miles, just didn't plan on having to do it now.

I'll probably go with the Edelbrock unit.

While I'm in there I'll bypass the TB coolant lines, get rid of the frisbee, and replace the serpentine belt.

Any other suggestions while I have the stuff Apart?

Or any tips to save me time?

Sounds like a good time to inspect/replace the radiator hoses and radiator cap, too.

Well my Edelbrock water pump showed up today. And I was planning on doing that tomorrow. Then just had a bug that I wanted to take a look closer tonight.

So I made the 11:30 trip into the garage. Once I got the intake coupler off, I could see the real issue. The previous owner had already dont the TB bypass, and used a hose clamp too small for the hose connection to the block. So yup, the hose poped back enough to shoot fluid right down the block and make it look just like the water pump had exploded. So it was an easy fix, tomorrow morning if I have enough time and coolant in the garage I'm going to fill her up and driver to work. :-)

Then I can go back to my original plan of doing the water pump over the winter, with my other tune up stuff.

So it's at least good that you already have the waterpump now, one less thing to buy this winter right?
