Hey good question! I've been thinkin of havin my exhaust guy make some up to eliminate the mufflers. I have alreay have the air, egr, and cat gone . Have 3" long tube headers and x-pipe now and i think the mufflers are causing my resonance around 16oo rpm.

I have a drone too. My pipes even have the pipe that connects the two together that is supposed to reduce the resonance. I think I need a different tone.
I replaced my exhaust with dual pipes from the stock header back. Now there are no cats or cross pipes. The exhaust note is more rumbly and loud with the chambered tips at WOT, but I have no drone and lots more power! I recommend the true dual exhaust for anyone that does not have to get inspections. The chambered tips however are not for everyone. You will get noticed with them!
Sounds like the way to go It won't hurt anything to try and with the duals we don't mind getting noticed wro87
Just thought I am setting up a dyno run next week. I will go ahead and run it like it is to see then we will change it out. Want some base line to have the chip then will replace the intake, injectors and now the mufflers. Then run it again the dyno in Springfield is only $60 for 3 runs and about $85 to dyno tune for an hour. I can get my chip tweeked over the winter all ready for SPRING.
