Default Transmission gurus - ENTER

I'm having problems with my 4L60 trans since I powered up my engine.
I'm shifting at 6000 rpm ( manually )and shifts are very soft, almost like
slipping, and if I press WOT in OD it downshifts to third no matter what
speed I'm going. When I'm manually downshifting it takes ages for trans
to react, and so on.......

I've decided to rebuild my trans and I'd like to see what do you think
would be the best way to go.

I would be most happy with full manual valve body, but I want trans
to last, and from what I've seen full manual kits usually cause soon
destruction because of constant high line pressure.

I want trans that will ( or at least that could ) last long time, shift
very firm, can use engine braking, and that will downshift when I want
it to. It would be best if it would downshift only manually.

Any input and comment is welcome.

I'm glad that you've seen this post. I've seen few of your posts ( will look for more). I would be very happy if I could buy one of your complete transmissions but unfortunatelly it's out of my $ range right now, and with shipping trans to Croatia it makes it even worse.
If you find time PM me, or write here as I would like to get some details from somebody who knows it's way with transmissions.

As far as the manual valve body, A transgo 700 2&3 shift kit will give you that option. The transgo will also allow for the firm(progressively) shifts most of us like. Transgo kit will also give the heavy duty piston return springs to allow for 7800 rpm before centrfical apply. It is like 3 kits in one. Well worth the money.
What power do you intend to put through this trans? Also, how high or you going to spin it?
Anything that I build that crosses an ocean gets overbuilt. I probably spent $300 more of Conv90's money than he truly "needed" to spend. We both agreed that overbuilding was wise in his case.

I spoke with conv 90 and I think that he has full manual option but still uses TV cable. Did you build his trans?
I'm at 400 chp now, but I'd like trans that could hold more because I'll most probably supercharge my engine in near future.

I did not build the trans Beppe had. I did build him a trans without the full manual option. He became tired of having to shift all the time. That trans is still in my garage because the engine I am building for him is not yet complete. When it is, I will finish up a trans for his friend Andrea and ship all 3 large items together.
After work, I will post up the parts list I used in his build. 85 Stalker has the same stuff in his as well.

Will TV cable still have function with this option or not?

Yes. The tv is responsible for line pressures in the trans. It cannot be eliminated.

That sounds just like I would like it to be. Full manual but not with
constant full line pressure.
Pete K, could you PM me with your e-mail address or do you want me to
send you PM with some details that I'm interested in?
Thanks.
