I'm sure some of you have taken your oil pan off with the engine in the car. I'd like to hear if there is a trick.
I did read in the tech section and one guy says the wrestled it off without lifting the engine.
I have the timing cover off, oil filter brackett off, engine raised a little and still can't get it off.
I can see that the front crank counter weight is up and out of the way.
Feels like it's hanging up like in the oil pick-up area.
Does the engine have to be turned a certain way?

It can come off. Needs some wiggling I believe around the pump pickup area. Not sure about the stock pan but my Canton was removed in minutes with the motor and accesories all on, except the starter of course
The first time did take a little wiggling, but it will come off.
Put the engine to firing position for #4 cylinder (Top Dead Center for #4). This ensures that not only is the crank counterweight up diagonally out of the way, but also the crank throw itself is not hanging straight down and preventing the pan from sliding backwards to clear the K-member. You can do this and get the pan out without having the lift the motor (at least on my L98).
