Default could someone double-check this?

I ordered all the stuff to get into tuning my car, an 88 vette auto. It has a 7165 ecm with the 32b. I'm going to change to the 6E, and just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions. All I changed was the revlimiter, speed limiter, cooling fan on and off, as I just put in a 160 thermo, and the highway spark coolant temp. Could you check to make sure the switches/flags are good? I'm still figuring that part out. Thanks a lot, and throw and ideas my way.

Are you asking if you made sensible changes? Or is it something else you want to know? If you are asking for someone to look over your shoulder for sensible changes, post the original bin as well.

I'm new and just wanted to make sure it looks good. I'm not real "with the times" changing computer stuff. That and the original rev limiter was set in the 10k rpm range...didn't know if that was for a reason. Here's the original bin...

What he is saying is that is easier to compare side by side in a program like TunerPro. I Have an 86 and started with the ARAP bin and $6E mask.. The changes you have made are a good start. Is the car stock?

Compared the two. Looks like what you said. The 160 thermostat won't matter at cruise unless it's mighty cold.. Might help in traffic with the earlier fans.

Thanks! I can't figure out how to compare the original to the new without the program crashing, so I wanted to make sure I didn't fat finger anything.

First off you are running 6E not 32B. That is if you have posted the correct files. Otherwise they are just a bunch of nonsense in 32B.

fan on and off looks a little low even if your running a 160 thermostat. I'd recommend setting the on temp 20 above the therm and off at least 10 above. You should let the thermostat get all the way open before you ask the fan to cool the flowing water otherwise the fan will be trying to cool down a restricted flow of water when it comes to the off setting and may never turn off.

speed limiting is fine as long as you don't plan to ever drive above 150 mph.

rpm limit is fine if you're trying to limit it to 5500. I'd recommend bringing the fuel pump back on a little closer than 5300. The closer you can the better. You want to feel it but you don't want to burn those cylinders lean.

I found some other differences that you have between the two. Here they are.

Highway mode is another story. Your setting is a little low, but then again there is some controversy on whether it is even enabled on a lot of different vehicles. I'd do a lot of searches on that specifically to find out how it applies to you.

disable a/c above %tps looks fine, shouldn't give you a problem.

disable a/c above coolant temp. looks fine also.

those are all the differences I've found.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll make some changes. I am running 32b now, but I'm changing to 6e (the one I uploaded). Since I don't have a 6e memcal to read, I had to download one.

you don't need a 6e memcal if you have a 32b. I've done the conversions. save your money.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding. I can't find any good 32b bins and definition files, and I read that you can put the 6e in the car just fine, minus the cold start valve support, so I just downloaded a 6e definition and bin, modified it, and im going to burn it onto a chip and put it in my computer.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what your plans are. What I would recommend is the same thing I do for my autocross friends/customers. I'd remove your 32B chip. Put a socket in it, then a zero insertion force socket on top of that. I'd get a couple of 29c256 eeprom's.

Do you have automatic or manual by the way?

exactly what i'm doing, except i'm using the moates adapter, so I don't have to solder/desolder anything on the memcal. It just bypasses the factory chip and comes with a zif to put the new one in. It's an automatic.

that's great. you're on the right track. I'd still recommend you look at the suggestions mentioned above. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate. It's all about helping other forum members.

yep, i appreciate it. I changed the fan temps up a bit, and moved the revlimiter on/off to 5550 and 5500. The speedlimiter doesn't really matter. I don't drive that fast anyways
