The ratio of the rocker arms in in the arms, themselves. There is no need to change anything else to achieve the ratio change. One should confirm that the springs will handle the additional lift without coil bind, and that the retainer adequately clears the valve seals and guides. Push rods are not normally required, unless they are needed to correct a geometry problem, caused by the new rocker arms.
Eye was not "talking about a cam and all the above". Eye was merely advising that springs, alone, weren't going to "spice things up at the back end" (nor the front end, either). And that rocker arms wouldn't either unless the ratio was changed.
RACE ON!!!
I bought the Comp Pro Magnum Roller Rocker kit from Summit Racing. It comes with new push rods. They are self aligning and should give you about 15 more CHP if you get the 1.6 ratio. You will have to trim the tabs inside the valve covers or buy tall valve covers like I did. If they are installed properly you will have less friction and cooler oil temps. They should be quieter than stock and last a long time. Avoid cheap junk and I have read that Harland RRs fail quickly. Crane gold RRs are good too. You should have no problem with the 1.6 ratio if you have new springs and a stock cam. The 1.6 RRs will give you an additional .030 of lift. You will not need a new chip burn for this mod.
