Somehow the master cyclinder on our 87' has developed a crack on the side causing the fliud to leak. What does the forum GODS think is the best to use for replacement standard/ Silicon or some other exotic. i will be replacing the can with the ones from a 88' so I will have a real dual unit.

While I don't know if it's the BEST, I do believe that Valvoline SynPower brake fluid is good enough for most of us who do not drive in organized road racing.
Another alternative with low hydroscopic characteristics is Castrol LMA, which is more than adequate for brakes and clutch. Its excellent for street use, inexpensive, can be found just about any of the retail auto parts stores.
Hey gang! Just a note for all the reply's found the Valvoline stuff at AUTOZONE and picked it up. I tried to get a new plastic reservoir for the 87' and not available so went with dual system from a 88' 2plastic reservoirs,2 caps,2 diapharms,(all GM parts from chevy) 2qts of Valvoline syntech fluid total bill $23.00. Took about 10 min.to swap out. Letting it sit overnight and will vaccum bleed the system tomorrow. Thanks for the help AGAIN

Wow,
your lucky to find the rubber gromits that hold the resevoir to the master cyl. I tried to get some here in the SF bay area, only 1 dealer in the whole area had 1. I wanted 2. It was a pontiac dealer at that. I'm still trying to find some for extras in case it happens again, I don't want to be down for a couple weeks while they order them.
I just use whatever i pickup, no specific brand. I dump it in all my cars for brake and clutches. never had any issues with any of the systems in any of the cars.
ATE Super Blue Racing or Ford Blue. Valvoline SynPower is very good, too.
I agree, Syntech was what I thought the valvoline was called, but thats a good brake fluid for street, and as above, I'd also suggest the ATE or Ford HD fluid for track days, all of those are still pretty cheap.
The Valvoline will fade on the track, but for street purposes it's fine.
