Hey guys, the bolt on the ford tensioner that is used on the vortech kits stripped last week when I was removing it from the car. The bolt is thrashed and the thread isn't too pretty either. The bolt I'm talking about is the one that holds the idler pulley(not the one that holds the tensioner to the vortech bracket). I have a few questions.
1. Isn't this a reverse threading bolt? Will a standard tap work to rethread this?
2. Will I have to replace the while tensioner assembly, and if so how much does that run?
If it's truly thrashed a helicoil is your best friend. They come in reversthread apps as well. Reverse taps are available at my local (mom and pop, not Home Depot or Lowe's) hardware and tool supply store. Just be absolutely sure that you tap/install perfectly perpendicular to the bracket face and you will be typing angry things back on this forum if it's messed up to any degree.
