Just unscrew the nuts on the back side of the hood/gas door. I had some pretty big problems removing mine... some paint came off with them because that adhesive was SOO strong. Luckily it doesn't matter that the paint came off where it did, because it is covered by the replacement emblem. Use some goo-b-gone on the left over adhesive after you get them off.
I dropped the nuts off of my hood emblem only to lose them inside the hood lining. Instead of trying to find more of those self-tapping nut things, I found a peice of strong rubber hose that was slightly smaller than the pegs on the emblem. I cut two peices about 2" long, and pushed them onto the emblem instead. It's still on there nice and strong, and I can remove it much easier next time.
I wouldn't bother with the adhesive, I put mine on without it and they are
fine. Also, on the front emblem, I put a small piece of electrical tape inside the socket so that I wouldn't lose the nuts into the hood.
What about the word (Corvette) on the back? Do you have to get up in there from the inside to remove it? Or can you do the whole thing from the outside?
Thanks for everything so far people - good stuff. :flag

Outside. Heat it up with a hair dryer, and use some sort of adhesive remover also (I use 3M). The two pegs you see are not pegs for nuts, they are just locators. A new one will have the same blue film to pull off like the gas tank emblem. Then you just stick the new one on.
just use fishing line to remove the old adhesive. get the fishing line behind the emblem and move the line while using a "teeth flossing" (up and down) motion.
