About twenty years ago. . . when I was in my twenties ( ). I took a 350 Chevy engine and stroked it to 383 cubes. I also added a high lift cam (around .520 lift I think). I put that engine in a sleeper 1978 Cutlass supreme with 3.90 gears and WOW! Low 13 second car with little investment.
My question for this forum is, anyone here have a stroked engine in their C4? What stroke options did you use (400 crank with stock pistions, or otherwise)?
Is the conversion worth the results? Anyone?
Plenty of strokers on this forum. Unfortunately they didn't make 1 piece rear main seal 400's, so you're pretty much limited to aftermarket cranks. 383, 396, and 4xx are the ones I've seen. 383 seems by far the most popular. Is it worth it? I would say so if you're going to rebuild the engine anyway.

Naw, no strokers around here! No need to mess with stock parts and special machining anymore. It can all be bought very reasonably now ready to bolt together. I opted for a little variation, a 3.80 stroke crank with pistons for a 3.75 stroke crank. This zero decked them w/o any cutting and also gave me a 388 instead of a 383 at +.030.
