I have just purchased a 1988 . After about 2 days of sitting the battery goes dead. My local mechanic says the digital dash is drawing. Pulling the fuse does not stop the draw. I tried the radio, heater fuse(5A) and that solves it, but everything seems to be functioning properly. Anyone have any experiences with this. Any help would be appreciated, I Hate electrical!!!
It sounds like you have a ground in one of the circuits and it is drawing the battery down. Have you checked to make sure the hood lights are out? One thing you can do to find a ground is the "phantom drain test". Unhook one of the battery connections and attach a test light between the cable and the post. Start pulling the fuses one at a time until the light goes out. Once the light goes out leave that fuse out and start putting the fuses back in and see if any other fuses makes the light come back on. Remember some items draw power all the time like the raidio for the clock. If the circuit that you pulled the fuse for shouldn't be on then this is the circuit that has a ground or short and you would need to test it or have an electrical shop test it out.
