Q about the ABS system...
My suggestion, do like me. Get one off Ebay complete with ABS computer and all relays ready to go.
Some time ago, I got a pratically brand new ABS pump, ABS computer, relays, and wiring harness all for $25.00 on Ebay. That's right $25 for all of it. Shipping was another $20. So less than $50 shipped to my door. Fixed my ABS like new.
Replacement is straight foward. Remove the old, and install the new. Use teflon tape on the brake lines when you re-install the new pump. Have some rubber caps ready to plug the brake lines as you remove them.
Use a 12mm flare nut wrench to remove the brake lines at the pump, or you will round the fittings, then you're f'ed. Go to Sears and buy the wrench alone if you don't have it. 12mm size about $8.00.
Bleed brakes after you're done.
See this clean complete unit for sale on Ebay right now.

Be carefull with this guy I linked below though. He's been using this same picture of a clean looking ABS unit for over a year. When I was looking for one, twice I bid on his listing, and twice this he closed and ended the auction early on me for no reason with my bid on it. He won't send you the one pictured, since I've seen his auction sell several times already and he relists again with the same picture all the time. Probably too lazy to add an actual photo of the unit you're actually going to get in the mail.

I just got going fast awhile ago and yes, the car still has its ABS functioning after braking hard...
This "ABS Active" light problem started ever since I accidentally went over a speed bump too fast. I thought I fixed it the other day but now its back...

Since these are magnetic, the brake dust will collect on the tips and block the signal.
I'd get an air hose and blow them off rather than trying to remove the unit/s.
You should also hoist the car up and inspect the underside for damaged wiring.
