Im going to be trading a shift kit for a torque converter from my friends dads turbo400 in his elcamino...he only had it in for 6 miles...and now he is doing a blown 454 drag car and wants a higher stall...
he is not sure what kind it is and what stall speed it is...
my question is there any way to find out what stall speed it is?
Turbo 400's use a different torque converter than a vettes 700r4. If I understand your post correctly, the 400 converter will not work in your car.
To answer the other part of the question, a stock converter typically has a code on it. Reworked converters usually do not. It is not possible to know the stall speed of a converter by looking at it unopened.
