I have the GTP 2 Cam 216/226-508/534 and 114 on the lobe separation. Idles good, sounds good. I put it in at the same time that I did a 383 conversion so I don't know what the performance gain from just the cam was.
Burns cleaner than the factory cam did as far as emissions goes - I was pretty pleased and surprised. If you need exact emissions numbers to see if it would pass CA emissions, I could provide those for you.
Chris from SpeedDemon Motorsports hooked me up with it. Call him if you have questions regarding cams, he seems to be pretty knowledgeable.
Currently running a Crane 222/230 112 LSA cam. Very happy so far. Will let you know more after my next visit to the strip. Idle is just a little bumpy, enough to let folks know you've got "something in there."
Previously I was using a Comp 210/224 112 LSA that was a very nice street cam. Very smooth idle and a broad, flat torque curve.
The GM Hot Cam (218/228/112) is very popular and is a good compromise between the above.
Other popular units are the TPIS ZZ4, Comp 305 and 306.
You can go a LOT wilder, of course. All up to you.
A Comp Cams 305 should pass smog easily if your smog equipment is all functional. The cam specs are bigger than a LPE 219/219. I think they are 220/230 at .050. I can't remember the lift but it was larger than the 219.
[QUOTE]What cam specs are you running? Answer....LPE74219! and are HAPPY with the idle/performance?Answer YES!! Do you ever SMOG the car?Answer...YES.. it passed better than the stock L98!
I am running the comp 305 cam. It lopes nicely at idle and Mike Morgan of Morgan Motorsports, who installed the package, thinks it will pass CA smog....hope so....I'll find out in 13 months.
