Hey guys new here.I have a ? when I make a turn from a stop my car acts like it running out of fuel.I replace the fuel filter and the pump is running fine. What should i do or test.other thin that it runs super nice.O and when i low on fuel its real bad.
How old is your pump? My car did this as the first symptom of the pump failing. If you do have to replace it, use an '85 vette pump. You'll appreciate the difference.

I have never replace the pump but i m going to.
Just for the --- of it today i tryed to start it and nothing just some backfiring.also i forgot the say the last time i drove the car it was powerless thin it shut down. Its starting to get cold up north so i may have to put it off or burn it
O and i did take the aircleaner off and i did see fuel. but it didnt look like it was spraying very well.so i think its a start.
At the very least, fill the tank, change the fuel pump sock and change the fuel filter. You may want to wait on the pump change. You may not need to. Fuel pump socks were known to collapse in the early c4 years. I have change a few crushed factory socks. 2 were on 84's 1 was on an 85.
Keep your gas tank filled as much as possible. Mine never gets below half a tank. My wife's 84 on the other hand is a different story. Even if you do decide to replace the fuel pump, they are pretty cheap and I think they come with a sock as well.
Hey Guy, I just bought a 84 Vette, Need to know how do I change the Fuel Pump, By dropping the gas Tank. Or maybe a seceret opening in the car hacth back area? any diagrams? please help...
You can get to it underneath the filler cap. Remove cap and rubber splash shield and you can see what you need to get at. The only hard part was removing fuel lines. I picked up a new gasket at GM and picked up some new o rings at local hardware. Not a real hard job to replace. Make note of how the float is positioned on original. I believe rockauto.com has a pretty good price on delco pumps, probably others as well. The advice about getting a 85 pump is probably good also, a little better pressure, thats what i put in mine. I believe the wiring connector was different, i vaguely remember soldering a couple of wires together on plug. Still overall a very easy project, good luck.

I recently bought one for my 90 L98 at Advance Auto and figured it would be included. Had to go back and get one.
While you are at it clean all contacts for fuel leval sending unit. Both my 84 and 96 wound up reading higher fuel levales causing me to run out of gas with the gauge reading over 1/8th of a tank.
I did it today I changed my own Fuel Pump within 2 hours. I did the following:
Fuel Pump upgarde to 1985
Screen
Fuel Relay
New Fuel Filter inline
new O-rings
One new hose (the return)
new mini clamps
I clean it all up and Painted it Black.
Thanks
