Speak to me, oh knowledgeable one's. It's the distributor cap that has the spark plug sockets, that line up on each side of the engine. Passengers side: 2 4 6 8 Drivers side: 1 3 5 7. Makes for a nice neat plug wire arrangment, and a more tighty engine bay.
My 84 has a Crossfire Cap on it, I purchased it from Jegs a good number of years ago. It definitely cleans up the wire routing and I never had any problem with it. Not sure if they still make it or not since it was probably 6 or 7 years ago when I bought it.
Edit: Found a link to it, seems to be the only place left that has them, not sure if this is the model you need, but here it is:

I fail to see the logic of paying $50.00 for a rebuilt $20.00 cap. Plus, once you have the plug wires set up for the 180° cap, you're stuck buying, used, $50.00 caps. There is no question it is neater, but at what cost? I guess it is up to the individual as to whether it is worth it it not, for the risk of a rebuilt cap at the more than double price.

RACE ON!!!
You have to build custom plug wires as well. I have a brand new set of stock wires. I'm not sure what I will do. I may just get all the stock wire seperators, as mine are old, an shatter. Then put them on the way the factory had them. They have done a pretty good job of keeping them neat. Then I could buy regular caps, in which I have a brand new one of those to. I'll check it out when I get to that point. Those packard seperators are a little expensive...

It looks a lot neater and I had no performance issues with it. I had the MSD HEI ignition module and MSD coil in it and it would definitely provide spark through more RPM's than the car would turn, lol. It is a small price for someone who is concerned about aesthetics. I wouldn't recommend it for the keep it stock crowd, or those who get worked up over a few bucks for no tangible performance gain, but if a priority for you is how your engine looks it is great.
Maybe, maybe not. But the point is to clean up the engine compartment, right? What is the point, if you don't shorten the #3 wire (and others) that runs all the way from the right rear of the cap, around the front of the cap and past the point it connects on the new cap? Then if you DO shorten it, how do you swap back to a reasonably priced cap? "Those packard seperators are a little expensive... " Those separators are chicken feed compared to that cap and while the separators don't last forever, they aren't a maintenance item like the cap is.

A "few bucks'? A premium of 250%, or more, is a "few bucks"? If your car cost 2 1/2 times what you paid for it, would you have bought it?

We could do abstract comparisons like that all day long on a myriad of topics, but my point remains valid. A DECENT regular cap might run you 20.00 and this one runs 50.00. A difference of 30.00 is in todays world a "few bucks". If you balk at 30.00 to get something that is arguably a visual upgrade at best, thats fine, but in a hobby that can cost thousands and thousands for changes that some don't see as necessary or an improvement, that remains a drop in the bucket.
And no, I wouldn't have paid 2.5 times more for my car, but after the pleasure of owning it, I probably wouldn't let it go for less.
