Default smooth intake duct

I want to get the smooth intake ducts for my car, AKA: Power Coupler

I already know there will be like 0 performance gain with them, I want them because I think that with an SLP Claw will look very clean under the hood.

BUT! I'm NOT about to pay ecklers/MAD ect. $120 for 2 peices of pipe.

Anyone have a line on where I can get some for a reasonable price?

I would recommend against it. The bottom seam will split after a few years and fill your motor with dirt for awhile before you notice. And it makes it a pain to remove the maf or air cleaner. (FWIW, the SLP claw also offers zero hp gain)

Some have cut sections out of orange construction cones to use. These will actually last. You could then try cooking it in some fabric dye to change the color.

If I recall - in a recent article in Vette magazine ( I think that was the publication) the cut lid/K&N combo gained 3rwhp over the stock paper filter, and the SLP claw gained 6rwhp over the stock setup. So - there is some hp gain, but no a lot.

Central: Had my smooth duct for 3 yrs now, no problems - the thing to do is boil it, then install on TB and let cool, that shapes it and theres no stress to break... besides they do look alot better than the dirt catching stock ones..or go get a 4"-3" turbo adapter and pipe the rest.

this pic was just in the fitting stages...before the NOS and the rest was installed.

Man, that mess of turbulence dumping that into the throttle body with that sudden expansion will more than cancel out any benefit of the smooth tube.

You'd be much better off with a tapered piece. These guys at Burns stainless sell stainless transitions for exhaust tubing, wonder how much work it'd take to make the end of this oval shaped...

What size tube is needed to fit the TB? I've heard 3-1/2" round or 4" round. I know the MAF is 3".

This is a 4-3 reducer for $30. And you can use heavy duty no-hub couplings to attach to the TB and MAF to keep it shiny.

These are dirt cheap.
