ChrisB,

Do you have, or can you point me to any documentation on the LT1 style MAF?
Thanks, kevin999@mindspring.com

With my 396, I have experiance with both. I am currently running SD and I like it. Throttle response is very quick. Almost explosive. Starts alot faster also. The SD is easier to tune for modified motors IF and only IF you do all the testing and tuning yourself. It's jsut about impossible for a mail order tuner to get a SD program right on a modified motor. Starting in 94, Vettes has a MAF and a MAP sensor. They combined both for the best of both worlds. For your 93, I would keep what you have and maybe look into doing your own tuning. LT1 Edit is a nice program I hear.

Just as an observation. LT1Edit does not work with 1993 and earlier LT1's. For those, you will need to use tunercat (which is what I use).

There might be others, but I found it's by far the best (and cheapest). Of course you will also need a EPROM programmer as the 1992/1993 ECM's were not flashable.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know that. I use Tunercat for my tuning also.

I just noticed the LT1 editor wasn't for my car. Thanks for the info.

Are there any direct bolt-on high flow MAF's for my 85 ?? I think I've heard of a weller or something before.

If yes, I would assume a new chip would be in order ?

I've witnessed a 420CID 88 L98 dyno'd at 540 HP(crank) with a gutted 88 MAF. I'm sure there is some power to be gained by removed the MAF but I can't see it being more than 10HP.
