It's seems my starter is going out on me. I go out to my car, and the first 4 or 5 times I get nothing but a click, and then I will try again and the starter will crank right up and she will run just fine.
What starter is the correct one? I've got a 396 12.0:1 LT4 in there, and maybe the stock starter isn't up to the job. I've had the car almost three years now, and just had a Golen Engine 396 installed, got it back last week. I haven't had to replace the starter yet since I bought the car, and when I asked Chad at Golen engine he said a stock LT4 starter would be fine, and thats what he runs in his.
Would I be better off going with one of these powermaster starters?
If I read your post correctly your 396 is LT4 based. If so starter #1 is the one you want. #2 is Gen 1, #3 is big block. To remove all doubt why not call Summit tech folks and ask?
