Default "SYS" Warning Light

Today was a great day in New England so I thought I would take my '94 vert out for probably one last ride before winter. It's been in the garage and I hadn't started it for about 3 weeks. It stared right up and I proceeded to take out for a ride. After I had driven it for about 8 miles I happen to notice my amp gauge i.e. the digital one. It was reading 14.5. It usually runs between 14.1 and 14.5 so it didn't bother me until I noticed that the 14.5 had changed to SYS and it was flashing. It seemed that everytime I let off on the gas SYS would come back and flash but then it would switch back to a digital reading. I stopped and got some gas and after that I didn't see the SYS warning again. However my reading would go down to 14.3 and then back up to 14.5 and then down to 14.4 and then back to 14.5. this went on for awhile. When I finally got back to my garage it read 14.2 and then while it was idling in my garage it went to 14.1 and the SYS warning light never came back on. I'm thinking that a little dampness interfered with my electrical system and thats why the SYS warning light came on and after the engine comp got warmed up it must've dried it out and the warning light went out. Has anyone had their SYS warning light come on like that and then go out? Or could this be a warning of electrical problems to come? Appreciate any info anyone has.

Probably just a low battery charge that recharged as you drove.

My son's 96 LT1 showed a flashing SYS light a couple of weeks ago as I was returning from a local restaurant.

Engine never missed a beat and on the next several times I had it out the SYS light never returned.

I couldn't figure out what was causing it, but I suspect at some point it'll let me know in spades. Until then, I've chosen to ignore it.

Have you thought about getting a Battery tender? Had the same problem. The battery tender cured it.

Yes I would use a battery tender if I had power in the garage but I don't. Thats why I start it once a month. I agree with you that using a tender would probably solve the problem as my battery is not that old.
