I installed a Mini Ram on a 90 Vette and now I have an oil leak that is on the Distributor shaft, above the gasket that keeps oil from coming out of the shaft where it rides on the manifold. Its about a half and inch above the clamp that goes over the distributor to keep it from moving after setting the timing. The only thing I did do the manifold was notch it a little to clear the oil pressure sending unit? at the back of the manifold. I used Right Stuff RTV. Any ideas
If you are seeing an oil leak from the gasket, check to see if your distributer clamp is too loose. My stock bolt used for my clamp holding down the distributer was too long so it would basically bottom out on the distributer clamp bolt hole, making it so that it wouldn't go down all the way. So, basically the distributer was on too loosely and seeped out oil from the gasket. I solved the problem by finding a nut that would fit the threads on the bolt and screwing it on. So there would basically be a 9/16 bolt with a 9/16 nut in order to shorten the threads to prevent the bolt from bottoming out into the intake. Now the distributer can be clamped down tightly and therefore, no more oil leaks from the distributer gasket.
Or you can simply use 2 or more distributer gaskets for a better seal. I should have done that...

The clamp seems to be tight as you cant move the distributor.
The oil is above the distributor, not below the clamp. Thats whats weird.
I may look at it while it is running.
what distributor? i had this problem and used some ultra blck silicon around the dist base and problem solved. but this was with an msd billit with adjustable slip coller.

Its an OEM L98 distributor. I think the thicker gasket is the way to go or silicon, because this distributor didnt leak with the OEM l98 manifold, it leaked after installing the Mini ram. Cam , oil pump etc etc werent touched.
