Default Vortech volute questions with carroll bracket

Hi guys. I have th o.g. carroll bracket using the curved discharge superchargers. My question is, are any of you running the bigger units such as the ys or ysi and if so, are you able to run the volute the same way as with the smaller vortechs such as the s or t trim? I mocked up my ysi tonight and it looks like the volute is going to hit the passenger side valve cover before I can get the bolt holes to line up to bolt it to the bracket. I'd like to run the volute toward the middle of the car rather than to the outside of th bracket, in the fenderwell area. Right now it doesn't look like it'll fit. Maybe if I had a custom set of sheetmetal valve covers made up it would, but even then i don't know. With the ysi, I need about a full inch more clearance than with the t trim (which I also mocked up tonight). Anyone have any input?

Even though the Vortech is different than the Procharger and the L-98 is different than the LTx, I did have to modify the bracket and the valvecover to get the larger diameter D1R volute into the allowed space. New bracket and notched vc solved it for me.

Arron, by chance do you have any pics of the modified valve cover? Did you modify a sheetmetal one or the stock one?

I "clearanced" the factory magnesium vc. This was after I relocated the blower slightly with the re-designed bracket.

if I'm not mistaken I have the composite ones on my car. I'm not too sure what I'll be able to do to them to get more clearance. I guess I'll have to take them off and take a peak.

1993 and up are composite valve covers
in the summit catalog i saw a product from trick flow it is brackets that will allow you to run early style valve covers on center bolt heads(lt-x) the cost about $100

darn, the link wouldn't show.

I worked on the car some more today. It appears that the blower discharge tract is going to be a piece of cake. My dilema right now is whether or not to use two vortech mini race bypasses or use on big procharger one. I can buy the 3" tubing with the mount for the vortech off ebay for $10 so it's a question of whether or not I want to make an effort.

Also, I checked again with the positioning of the volute versus the vc. There is no way that i'll get it to fit in my opinion. I'm going to have to clearance it 1/2" to 3/4" to get it in there. I can get a 1/8 by notching the volute, but the rest would have to come off the valve cover. Everywhere else it seems to fit fine. This is with the volute to the center of the car.

I then tried to position the volute to the wheelwell. It looks like everything is okay like that except for hood clearance. The reinforcement rail on the hood that goes from front to back of the car is hitting the top of the volute of the blower. It's close to the point where I can close the hood but right before it latches you can feel it hit the blower and then the hood bend slightly upon latching. Anyone notch their hood? I'm worried about doing this. I hate to do anything permanent.

On another note, there is a ton more room under the hood with the blower this way instead of using the vortech brackets. You can get everything in and out in 15 minutes versus about 3 hours with the vortech stuff.

My hood had to be notched for my Carrol kit, wheel well had to have custom piece so blower could protrude into it and had to switch sides with the valve covers as the discharge pipe covers oil fill.
