Default What upgrades would you do first?

I have upgraded the sterio because I had the parts from my old car. I also upgraded the tires and wheels are on the way within a month. The planned upgrades I want to do in order are:
Hellas(tomorrow)
K&N with open top (tomorrow also)
Brakes (C5, Baer, or GS?)(need to do first as current setup needs replacing)
lower 1" (should I with GS rims and 315-35-17 rear? Clearance Problems)
4.09 Rear
Bushings
Power Effects exhaust
Hypertech programable chip
Convertable Top with Glass window
Hurst shifter
Motor upgrade(425 hp, all the goodies).

I also want to do some smaller things like Bias Spring, running light upgrade, clear front plate cover, alarm, Oil slick, Hellfire missles, and smoke screen.

Did I miss anything? Would you switch the order of anything here? I can have everything except the motor done by March.
I also am going to get advise on air intake from my buddy the former american turned german engineer who I helped do a frame of restoration of his fathers '64 GTO 389 Tripower and who designed the mass air flow sensors for the current Viper. He says he is going to hook me up with something new, unique, and killer. :D
Thanks for all your advise

I hope you plan to keep this car untill you die, because you will lose hella money when you sell it.

Sounds like it'll be a beast.

Instead of doing all that though, I just have a 93 now. Going to take my time, save up, and not put anything on it (K&N w/ Ram Air, hypertech, thermostat, and cat-back exhaust only). Then I am saving up to buy a 96 LT4. I honestly like C4s appearance better than C5 for some reason. I guess I am nuts. But if you are going to make a hot rod, why not buy one already done, where they spent their money and are losing thousands on it???

Just my .02 (watch all the flames from the hot rodders get me) :D

I wanna do the motor at about 100,000 miles. I'll run it another 100,000 then and buy a C6 in about 4 years. Figure I'll just skip over the C5. I also liked the C4 and the C2. If they do a good job, it looks like I'll try to get one of each of the even #s. :D
I figure all these mods are fine if I'm not having to buy another car. I already own this one outright so I have no payments. It was a lease I bought out for $10,000. I figure the upgrades are like my payments until I'm ready for the next one. If I get the job I want next, I may go new Viper instead, no offense.

So what do you think of the order of the mods? Did I miss anything? Should I do certain mods in combination to make installation easier? :smash:

Well, first, wait untill you find out if you got job before you load $$$ into the vette.

2nd, you are spending more on the mods then you did on the vette itself :D

And lastly, YOU FORGOT HEADERS!!!

Order seems pretty good.

The thing to do for best engine life is exhaust before engine upgrades. So it can blow out air instead of having more back pressure by adding air.

Exhaust should ALWAYS be the first performance mod (except for gears or things that dont change the engine).

This is true. I will be spending more on it than what I bought it for. However, when all is added up, it will be a killer car for relatively small $$$. Thanks for the tip about the exhaust. I wasn't sure if the lower amount of back pressure might be bad but I figured since its just an air pump, you gotta let it out before you can put it in. I figuered I would do the headers when I do the motor. Heads, cam, lifters, throttlebody, you know the drill.

When spending money on a vette, keep in mind: its FUN! ...makes it easier on the Superego. Owning a vette is a constant ordeal between ID and Superego!

I have a similiar mods list. I modified because I like to accelerate quickly. Yes I am into my car more than I paid for it and I don't care, I didn't buy my car as an investment. Will I drive it for ever, I hope not! It will go when I buy a newer Vette but at my current rate, I am looking atleast another 5 years. Will I lose my shirt? Hell yeah, but that happen to me on almost every car have owned. I will continue mod away, I usually drive my cars fora while before I sell them.

I like your list. If you're planning on a reprogram, you might want to do it at the same time you do gears, not sure how the 92 works, but on the later LT1/4 car you can reprogram the PCM instead of changing the speedo gear.

As far as spending too much money, that's why I call it a hobby. Modding my car is only slightly more costly than therapy

Yeah, I agree that it is my therapy. I also have to get this stuff in before I get married while I still make my own decisions on my spending money. After I get married, I'll have to get practical things like clothes instead of brake pads. I'm putting the money in not as an investment, though my mods are probably doing as well as the market right now. But its what I like to spend my time and $$$ on. I don't however want to waste it needlessly.
Thanks for the feedback

Looks like a good list to me.

If you haven't done it already, disconnect that CAGS. I'd do it right after the headlight upgrade IMO.

I doubt you'd have clearance problems with GS wheels and 315 tyres if you lower the car. Just make sure the wheels are the correct GS offset.

I have the brake bias spring installed with my OEM Heavy duty brakes (13" front rotors) and recommend it as $15.00 well spent. I can't really notice it driving around slowly but if you try high speed braking the car doesn't nose dive nearly as much as before.

Have fun.
