Default Buying a C4.... Any Tips?

I am looking to double my Corvette collection by adding a 90-94 6 speed convertible. What should I look for and avoid when shopping for a car?

Make sure the check engine light works. Some unscrupulous sellers may remove the bulb to hide engine problems.
Ask to see maintenance records.Dont ever get your optispark wet. :chevy

why not a 95 or 96? They have the vacuum vented optispark as well as several other small improvements. Check the little black book for details. Everyone has always seemed to say, "buy the newest one you can afford".

95-96 Also got the bigger ZR-1 braking system (13" front rotors). Also, the 96 M6 owners on the board seem to claim that they got some kinda 'better' engine or something... :D

wait 1 more month.

with the bottom falling out of the economy, they will be dirt cheap, and you can move to a 95 0r 96.

Save your money until you can afford a '96 with 6-speed... that will assure you an LT4 and they are worth waiting for.

With the economy the way it is, you might see prices fall a bit.

Don't forget about every person who gets bit with the ZO6 bug, and trades in their C4.

Kinda stupid it seems like to me. Didn't another Corvette have 385 hp once, and the next year it had 405? Just something to think about.

OK... it was 375 hp, and 3 yrs. later. BUT STILL!!!

I would really like to get a 96 CE to match my silver 68. Since I live in Michigan I will most likely wait until early spring unless I find the right car this fall. What parts/components wear out and are expensive to replace? I know about tires and brakes. Is there anything I need to know about the 6 speed trans? What about the adjustable suspensions etc? Any more ideas? Help me so I dont just put a supercharger on my Mustang GT and wait a couple more years for a C5.
