1985 Dash Lights- Not working
Hey everyone. I just got an '85 a couple of weeks ago. I was driving it the other day and the lights behind the speedometer and tachometer went out. Its really hard to see the digital gauges now. Is that common? Is it a lightbulb problem or an electrical problem? Thanks all!

A lot of us have problems with these lights. Were they all working to begin with? You do not have the dreaded dark dash with both turn signal and highbeam indicators lit up do you? This usually indicates a bad ground. Take a look at the following:

I have an 87 with the same problem, I found the 3 amp fuse for the inst. lights kept blowing, It happened four times in a month when I first bought the car. I finally got fed up and replaced the fuse with a 5 amp, I figured that if I had a short it would blow anyway, well it's been 5 years and the fuse is still in service and the dash lights work. I think that a previous owner must have wired something into the circuit causing the fuse to blow. Hope this helps.
