On my 92, the drivers window has to be pushed down to roll down, otherwise it sits there while the regulator makes an "I'm stripped" sound. The window is not hard to move, sticky, etc.. It also rolls up fine. New regulator time, or is there an adjustment on the unit?
Pull the door panel off and have a look, see if the motor is still attached nice and tight with all its fasteners. Youll see in there that there is a big spring that helps the window to come back up, so driving the regulator up or down is probably about the same effort for the motor.
Well, that was fruitless. The gear stops rotating while the window is rolling down and the motor makes the stripped sound, which tells me something inside the motor/gearcase is stripped out. Also, now the passenger window only works intermittently.
Did the passenger window start to have the intermitant issue just when you pulled the driver side door apart? The power window wiring loom for the passenger window goes into the driver side door to the twin switch.
The motor its self im not too familiar with, ive never looked at one to see what its got inside. But if its doing that id just replace it if youre confident that it will fix the issue.
Yes, and I checked the wiring at the switch in the driver's door to make sure it wasn't loose after it started. Is there a molex in there as well that goes to the passenger side?
On the regulator you can poke your head in there and watch what is going, or rather, not going on. Think I will live with it for now, as it only takes a finger to help it down.
