Default I screwed up, need cooling advice.

I bought dual electric fans for my car, 12 inches, without messuring because I read someone else say they had dual 12 inch fans...well they must have had a bigger radiator, becaust they won't fit on mine.

I got them mounted as close to the radiator as possible, but to no avail, they still suck more air from the small gap than through the radiator and they have no check on the coolant temp, they'll only stop its rise by about 50%.

The design of the fan makes it impossible to extend their existing shrouds.

Fortunately these were faily inexpensive $129 so I'm not going to :cry if I can't get them to work and have to go to something else.

No where I really screwed up...I was confident I could make these fans work, so I gave my stock fan to a buddy who was having overheating problems in his truck. And I cut my fan shroud to hell and back to try to make room for my new fans. So there is no going back...

My thoughts now are to figure out how to mount one fan in front of the radiator and one behind the radiator, and seal them with duck tape or something...but I'm not sure.

Who has aftermarket cooling fans? How much? How do they work?

If I go with something else, I'm pretty sure my dual fans will fit on my Blazer.

Thanks.

duct tape and paint to match! thats just a temp fix of course. flex-a-light has some good electric fans in summit catalogs that flow alot of cfm, single and duals. how big is the dual fans you have now, i might be interested in purchasing them for another car of mine.

Why don't you use the big fan in the picture?

Yup, you do have to chop it up- I fit in the dual spal 11inch fans as pullers. They come in a premade shroud that will fit behind the radiator; but it is a tight fit. But if you've already cut out the original shroud.......... Also its not cheap, about 400.00, but it did help on mine. I also have a be cool rad. and bought the mounting brackets from them-made it a little easier. Good luck!

I just put the spal dual fans on my 86. Got them for about $250.00 new from a hot rod shop in Mo, named Hay-Wire do a search on internet. They have a web site. Was the best price I could find for the spal fans and they move great amounts of air. I have a Howe aluminum radiator and bought the be cool mounts, but they would not fit. Made my own mounts out of some aluminum bar stock I bought. Much cheaper than the be cool mounts
