Something I need to set aside for the future is a 1989 Center console. I've cut the current one up to fit a ratchet shifter, and eventually plan to put a ZF-6 in here. Contemporary Corvettes is who I usually go to for this kind of stuff, but they're saying it's a one year only part and hard to come by.
I am not sure because there is no 89 manual listed at: The Last Detail but they have the automatic version for an '89. Others should chime in I am not sure what makes the difference.
Thanks, looks likt eh difference between auto and stick is a little bit of carving.
It's similar to the carving I did for the ratchet shifter, but in order to get the shifter boots to sit right, I'm going to have to make the hole larger than a 6 speed would use, meaning: I'd better have a source for another one before ripping this one up.
I think you are correct, that the 6 speed, early interior, center console piece was only made for the '89 model year. You might want to check with Pat Rothnie in Montclair, CA he is an ex-PepBoys general manager who now parts out C4s and sells them on eBay. He is great to do business with (just check his eBay rating). And if he doesn't have it in stock, he'll look for one and let you know as soon as he gets it. He does an awesome job of cleaning and packaging the parts and his shipping prices are very reasonable. Tell him Ed Bradley sent you. His email is: redliner50@hotmail.com. His eBay name is redlinecorvette. Good luck!
Do an e-bay search. I bought mine from one of the "buy now" ads. Usually if you click on a vendors "view store" you can find alot of whats not advertised. Of course if you had an 88, I'd be happy to send you my old one. The graphics are slightly faded and it has the 4+3 tag on it but if you think it'll fit......let me know. It's the least I can do for a fellow blue thunderer.....
