What is the factory color of the block in an '85? I am rebuilding the engine and figured I may as well repaint it. Since I have no idea if it is currently the factory color I thought I would check.

by no means 100% sure, but if i had to bet on it, i'd say it's black -

It looks good with all of the aluminum parts, stainless headers, etc. I also have other red under my hood. Whatever is not black or polished metal is red, except for my Canton pan which is gold. It also looks good against the red too.

Originally black, but no longer. I can't stand the thought of owning a Corvette with anything but an orange engine (unless it's all aluminum, of course).
