I'm getting one installed soon and I wanted to know a few things.
First, what setting should I install it with? Is everyone using the firmest mode? I want hard shifts but I wanted to see if the firmest setting is too much(for street and track use).
Second is how can it hold any rpm in any gear? I'm installing it so that it will still shift automatically but how can it hold the rpm in any gear?
And third I just wanted to know how it acts like. Does it shift hard and chirp the tires?
Thanks a lot, I can't wait to get this thing in.

I'm also interested in the answers to these questions.
I'm seriously considering a shift kit, and I also have a few things I'm usure off.
1. I've read that you can install it so that you must manually shift, I take it that this means the car will no longer change gear for you.
2. If you do install the auto option I've read that you can drop into any gear at any speed.... but what stops you from doing that now? I know it would KILL your car... but you could still do it? Will the shift kit allow this without damaging the tranny or the motor?
3. To echo the original post... how is it that you can hold any gear to any rpm? What are the mechanics behind this?
Re: Questions for Transgo Shift kit users>>> (Bradley33)
Basically they let the manual valve signal override the govenor signal pressure wise...it means that manual selection below D/3 will not automatically shift up once a 'set' speed/rpm is reached. This is not really a problem with 700R4 equiped Corvettes, as most do not turn enough RPM's to hit that point. In fact, the opposite is usually the case...the car won't upshift at WOT when you want it too.
As for complete manual control...no, you have to replace the valve body completely for that...and a manual valve body is not something you can make by putting in a shift kit. You still get auto shifting in D/3 and OD ranges.
One of the best things you get from the transgo kit is the bootstrap TV plunger. It does a lot to refine pressure and shift feel at all throttle openings. It also makes it easy to adjust the TV cable. The other is the 2/4 band servo piston fix...it eliminates the 2nd gear slide-bangshift and makes 4th better.
In short, you can make it shift too hard, I would recommend against it, as shifting too hard caused me to break two tranny's already. Hard parts cost a lot...a little clutch wear cost very little to repair ( soft packs are less than $100 for 700R4's )

not true, with the transgo reprogramming kit you have the option of installing the stick shift kit which removes all auto control. This is what i plan to install mainly to prevent automatic downshifting. I have emailed transgo and talked to some experts and they all said this was a good choice for full manual.
