a number of folks have them. I have heard generally good things.
I have heard some questions about later LT1s and the workability, but I don't know the causation - was it installation failures? is it an incompatibilty issue? I donno.
From what I have herd this system only helps with the carbon tracking under the cap of the OPTI the reliability issues of the OPTI as a sensor are still a factor since the coilpacks get still get their information from the sensor part of the OPTI. Personaly it seems like too much cost for little improvment over some of the new aftermarket OPTI units

$$$$$$$$$$$ ALOT
I'm replacing my OEM water-pump with a Mezie HD, so I feel ok sticking with a stock opti for the $$$
Will the Northstar system fit into an LTx motor.....
A question asked out of pure ignorance..so it is probably pretty stupid..
A simplified explanation is the Delteq box converts Opti-Spark signals into signals that are the same as the Northstar crank sensor creates. These converted signals are then feed to the NorthStar coil pak.
All the Delteq does is create a "window of opportunity" for each coil in the coil pak to fire, the same ignition timing signal that is created in the LT1/LT4 PCM from the Opti-Spark still fires the coil. So, the timing does not change from the stock Opti-Spark. The Delteq just eliminates the need for the cap-and-rotor part of the Opti-Spark.
I'm running it on my LT1 now -- Delteq makes a kit to bolt on.

I have a Delteq that I will be installing when I reassemble the motor in my '94.
I have a question on rotor removal. Just open the opti, pull the rotor out, and close the opti back up? That simple?
The rotor, when screwed down, holds the Optical sloted disc in place.
Without the rotor, you have to make sure the screws hold the disc in place -- I used special washers, there are other ways. I think you can find some by doing a search.
I have it on my 96 and love it. It is a better ignition/spark system than to OEM design. It is much easier replacing spark plug wires too. Great customer service.
Installed the Delteq in my 396 LTI and took out the MSD box. Picked up 15 RWHP from 6200-6500 RPM's and no more opti failures at the track at 6800 RPM's. Two years of service with no problems.
I've got a couple of questions for those experienced with this system. I'm fed up with my car eating opti's so I need to do something different. But with what I think is yet another failed opti, I'm curious what part of the opti has to be functional for the delteq system to work. I have no idea what is killing the opti's on my car - heat? rpms? They never get wet. But I've put one on every year I've had the car with maybe 1-2k miles per year driving. Usually fail with either code 16 or 36 (I think that's the numbers - one is hi-res pulse failure and one is low-res pulse). Anyway, I thought those failures were in the optics, which according to delteq's website is actually the more robust part of the system. I guess what I'm after is if I'm blowing the optics out of these things, then will the delteq do anything for me? And if my current opti is on the blink, will I have to replace it first? I'm looking for a solution, but based on my understanding of the delteq and how it relies on the opti pulse, it won't fix anything for me, or will it?

No
