Default Window anti-rattle pads

The drivers window on my '86 coupe rattles a little when it is down. I see that Corvette Central and other vendors sell a anti-rattle pad (2 required). Have any of you tried installing these and is it much of a job?
I see that you have to remove the door panel. Are these adjustable or do they have to be replaced?

I put new anti rattle pads in my '90 vert. My window rattled bad when I shut the door with the window partially down. The new pads helped but did not eliminate the noise. I think replacing the outer lower window seal would help a little more.
Its not a difficult job. You just have to go through the removal and re-installation of the door panel.
The pads are adjustable and you probably could try just adjusting the old ones. My opinion; if you are going to go through the work of removing the door panel then put in new pads and a lower outer window seal.
Good luck.

I had this same issue too - especially with the windows part-way down when closing the door. Both windows rattled so bad I thought they were going to break (from the sound they made). You could also rock the window back and forth up and down when it was part way down.

I tried replacing just the window bumpers (felt covered pads w/ stock replacements), but unfortunately the solution was a little hairier. I had to buy new window regulators (The track that the window mounts too). They were a couple hundred bucks for both sides.

Basically the guide rollers wear in the regulator channel. New regulators stopped the noise, but the window still wasnt as tight as I thought it would be.

My suggestion is to try the mid-america pads, and if it still doesnt work make the decision as to whether its worth spending a couple hundred bucks to fix, or to live with it.

Good luck. By the way my experiences were on my 93 vert.

I've got the same problem on my 86. I think Dizwiz summed it up pretty well.... The problem with mine is, the plastic guide that runs up and down the metal shaft of the regulator is worn and needs to be replaced. The felt pads are simple to install, but I don't think that's your problem either.

Other members have installed later model window regulators in their early model cars. The late model regulator is a better design. Good luck.
