Default Cool Runnings

What can I do to help my 96 LT4 run cooler down here is good ole hot South Texas? Are there any kits to turn the fans on earlier or at an adjustable temperature? Will a lower temp thermostat help or will I just cause it to never cool? I am going to do major service on the system and would like to do it all at the same time... All advice appreciated...

Thanks,

I've got a 160 degree thermo, and my chip turns the fans on sooner. I also have a manual fan override switch so that I can turn them both on at will. My car needs a damn good beating in 95+ degree weather to ever see over 200 degrees. :D

Hey neighbor-
Yep- there's lots of stuff that can be done, higher volume h20 pump, new aluminum radiator- (there's a nice one available from Tom Dewitt for $450, or one from Be Cool), there are switches that can turn your fans on earlier, and etc. It's all a matter of how much green you wanna lay out. My 94 will be getting a new radiator eventually, and probably a better h20 pump haven't decided on the t-stat. Don't have the $ right now- so it's staying stock for now- but this summer proved to me that I'll need to do something before next summer. :mad - John
