Default L98 Intake-check it out

About the intake....I bought this from an acqaintance a while back...He purchased it from LPE as a ported stock TPI intake...he didn't know any different....but I did...The base manifold has the Winters Foundry " snowflake " emblem cast in ...the stock fuel rails fit with some minor clearancing and All fits nicely under the hood...It appears that the parts guys at LPE sold some factory experimental stuff without knowing it....this was purchased about two years ago from LPE....I've had it about 8 mos. Along with a cam change from Comp's XE262-H to the XE268-H...I have an older block....This setup got me an extra .4 on an 1/8th mi. track Ran best of 7.82.

SCROLL ON DOWN.......PHOTOS WERE DELAYED.....................

Is that a stock intake cut apart and welded back together?

Is that one of the FIRST intakes, or does someone else make it?

I can see from the pics the runners and intake manifold size will allow more air into the motor, but since the runner length hasnt been changed any,I wonder what real benefits this will have.
Not being negative, sorry, just know runner length, not always tube and intake size, creates an RPM restricted wall that keeps the TPI from making more HP...if this set up flows alot better than stock, and indeed makes more power, that would be great.

Let me add,I forgot you said it added .4 in the 1/8th so it may be making some better power over stock...any dynos to see if the rpm wall has shifted up from stock?Or did it make more power in the stock band as say compared to as tock TPI?

The car is an automatic....beefed a bit....2400 stall ....I put it in drive and punch it ...let the trans do its own thing....shifts 1-2 at 4700 rpm and 2-3 at 5000....the car is extremely consistent...wish the driver was too!....runs 1.70-1.75 60' times and is real consistent in the very low 8.0s- 8teens depending on air and track temps....Florida you see....the 7.82 run was in 58 degree weather.....EFI cars do love cold air....with the stock TPI manifold the best ever time was an 8.15 but was more likely to run 8.40's....this is all with the same set of MT drag radials at the same 1/8 mi strip....Sushine in Clearwater FL

Length dictates the RPM that the ram effect operates.
But the volume of the runners is really going to help you out. The TPI was only meant for a 305. They should be D shaped, to help out the short radius side of the runners, GM used a bent tube, hence they're being round, but just about all the aftermarket ones were cast, so they could have took care of this.

Looks like there is still a little meat on there if you decided to take it further.
Does it have the EGR passages on it?

Yes the EGR passages are there but were blocked with epoxy before I got the manifold....Theres not much meat left in the tubes...but plenty in the base manifold.....the plenum had epoxy ( the gray areas ) under the tube mounting area for plenty of gasket sealing surface....making the gaskets is time consuming but worth it !
