Default Wipers rubbing the hood

I just installed a new windshield wiper system and i'm now having a problem with the wipers rubbing against the hood when they go into park. The metal part of the wiper blade looks stock, although i'm not entirely 100% sure on that. Is there anything else that could cause this to happen?

Aftermarket wipers are too high to clear the hood.

Only ones that fit afaik are Factory (18 dolla each!) Special ones for C4's and XLR's, can't remember the name but they have to be ordered.

And Exact Fit 20-4's

At my auto parts store they have the Exact Fits and about 3 different 20", you need the 20-4, the logo on the package will be gold instead of silver, and in a different language.

I made the same mistake, bought a set of triple-edge silicones like I use on all my cars, and realized it was a no go. Went and got the Exact Fits and they fit perfect, and work REALLY well too. Bonus, you can use trico refills in them

I understand aftermarket ones dont fit, but I bought an entire wiper system from a forum member and the wiper blades look stock. The only markings on the metal part is an arrow. There are no brand names or anything like that. How do I tell if they are factory ones?

I don't have my factory ones or I would look for you, if I remember correctly though, they didn't even have an arrow on them

Thanks Mekanic. I might just try to find some blades in that brand you mentioned or get new factory ones.

I recently got some Rain-X brand blades. They clear the hood better than any I have tried in the last 10 years.

I think I got some Bosch's and they did not fit, I then got some Trico's from Advance and they worked fine. Look at the distance from the blade to the pivot point and keep this at a minimum.

I've tried the Rain-X blades before and they didnt fit.

I bought some Exact Fit 20-2's today and they clear the hood easily. I'm just worried because the center isnt resting on the windshield like its supposed to. I looked at both the 20-2 and 20-4 and they looked almost identical to me, but the parts lookup said to use 20-2.

4ever21, you've always been helpful to me.........

Yes, The Bosch is too high and it will hang-up under the hood. The Trico (available at Kragen) is a much lower profile and fits snugly under without any issues. I bought the "18 and my wiper situation was fixed.

The Tricos on the Vette and the old Bosch ones went on the Trooper.

I bought replacement blades that are already on the frame (if that is what you call it) that just clip on to the wiper arms
I had the same problem so I went back and just got the rubber part that just slides on the factory frame and it works fine

I don't know if this will be of any use? I bought a set of PIAA's from tire rack and they are higher at the arm attachment point but they do just clear the fiberglass....not by much but they do not rub the hood lip.

There was a Tech Tip written a few years ago about using 95-95 wiper arms on earlier C4's. These late arms have different angles than the earlier arms and will provide extra clearance for larger blade assemblies.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=42&TopicID=2

Not in the pics that the pins on the later arms are larger so existing blades may have to be replaced.
