Default Installing 91 engine into 88 car - ECM issues...

I'm considering installing a speed density L98 91 engine and auto tran into an 88 vert with older 1988 ECM with Mass Airflow. I'm swapping out the 1988 L98 and auto tran, but am leaving the 88 ECM with Mass Airflow.

The 91 engine has been bored to a 383 and has 24# injectors, better flowing intake, heads, hotter cam, etc.

Are there additional sensors that the 91 has that the 88 ecm does not support?

91 engine comes with custom chip for 91 speed density ecm. How do I build a 88 chip using the 91 chip info as a base?

What do I need to do to reprogram the 1988 ECM to make it work with the newer, better breathing engine? I've programmed professionally, so I'd like to get the tools to build my own chips. I've read the sticky thread here and have not found conversion programs. Are there any programs available that convert ECM/PCM data from/to older/newer computers? i.e. start with 91 ECM data in a text file, load it into a conversion tool which generates 88 ECM data that could be burned onto an 88 chip?

Any other "gotchas" that I should be aware of?

Thanks.

You should be able to use the 88 ECM without problems. Just use the 88 ECM without any changes. With the 91 engine just plug the MAP sensor and change the knock sensor to a 88. This is if you want to use the MAF setup and not the speed density set up.

My father has installed a 91 engine in his 89 and these changes above are needed. The project is on hold as of now, so I can't tell you what the outcome is.

EDIT: you will probably need to make changes to the 88 chip with the mods you have.
