Default Looking to replace fuel injectors??

I am in the process of upgrading my engine to a 383 with Superram and nice heads. My goal is 350-400 hp and 450 torque. What fuel injectors should I use. I believe the Ford SVO 24# has been suggested as well as the Bosch pintle-type 24lb injector made for the L98 applications. What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Default injectors

I ran my 409" TPI on the stock injectors 24# by using an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and turning it up to 51-53psi . When I changed cam and intake I installed Accell 26# run @ 55psi . If you want to be scientific about it there are formulas for determining the proper size injector in Accell's and in MSD's catalogs .You can figure for flow at different fuel pressures and for horsepower at different flow levels..use both to determine what's best for your application...thats how I arrived at my numbers.

Thanks for the input. Many posts talk about the Ford Racing Injectors. Bosch and Accel are also available. Once I size the need, is the Ford really the best? I cant imagine that Bosch makes a bad injector but maybe I am wrong. I do plan on using a regulator.....

I would assume that your getting a tune, so you could ask your potential tuner if he prefers one.

A 24# option is to pick up a set of stock '85 injectors and have them serviced. The injectors for that year are very strong. Otherwise most recommend the Ford or Bosch units, and to stay away from Accel.

Why does everyone say to stay away from ACCEL? I always hear it, but not sure why?

It was recomended that I go with 30# SVO or 36# with some other brand. That was for a 396, heads, cam, N20 build. You may want at least the 30# if you plan on ever doing more in the future. I wish I had gone bigger than the 24's the first time. I would think the 24# SVO will work for what you want now though. I don't know a lot about the 87 models. I would ask your tuner what they recommend for your setup and future plans.

Not sure. A assume that many members have had bad experiences with Accel's. I have 24lb Accels in my 86, though it runs rich, the injectors don't leak and ohm where they should. No complains with them....for now, just oversized for my setup.

Bosch was the stock unit in a few vettes, and they are pretty good. The stock ones in mine were Bosch and after 21 years and one service, they are as good as new.

- and I have no idea what is wrong with Accel, I've never used them and as such, I have no complaints. I only said that many members have had complaints about them.

Had the same problem. Installed an AFPR and lowered fuel pressure to 40 lbs. It's fine now.

We've used Accell's in a lot of cars and not had any problems with them.

Yep, I install a Holley AFPR and no change even with a 34 psi. I'm working on it.
