i found out the hard way that these damn94 vette valve covers are extremely hard to find... i tried just about every place on the island including a few dealerships, but i have no choice to avoid the dealerships... this is really pissing me off.. the ones i ordered from ebay required some modifications and that still didnt do the job.. i hate to go through the bull**** again ordering another pair from ebay finding out they wont fit.. im sure some of you hot rodders gotta have a pair of valve covers lyin around your garage somewhere... if something isnt done about this soon, the car might just continue to sit until i can find what i need...
this is the only thing keeping the damn car from running... i'd appreciate some help... im hoping to see some replies soon
the thing with these valve covers i ordered, the application is meant for LT1 Camaro SS, impala SS, firebirds, vettes. when i installed them on my car, the corners would jiggle and wouldnt completely mate the the surface of the heads... i tried shaving the bolt guides but i couldnt get em all the way down...
If you're talking about the OEM corvette composite covers, yeah welcome to the club, they are expensive. As far as I have followed them on ebay, I've seen them fetch close to $200. I had the cast covers and needed to go with the later style composites when I installed the RR's. I got lucky and found a dirty pair for around $80 that cleaned up nicely when repainted. I don't know of any easy alternatives in an aftermarket cover, and would expect the OEM's would go for less if there was one redily availible.
I'm not sure if these will work but I have a set of stock cast rocker covers from my 92 LT1. I was going to bead blast and repaint them and keep them for spares but I would sell them to you if they will work.
Bernie
i appreciate the helpful knowledge from the true enthusiasts, thanks guys for the info.
hey 92LRC, i dont think those will fit mine unfortunately. i did order some from jegs out of desperation, but well wait and see if im in luck's hands. if not, bernie how much you want for yours? too bad im i live pretty far from everyone else... hawaii
The only problem with the stock covers is if you have roller rockers, you will have to take the drip tabs off with a milling machine to get them to fit. They also don't seal as well in my experiance, which is why I got rid of them after spending some time milling them down.
i got stocker rockers under the covers fortunately. hey bernies, the price sounds extrememly reasonable to me considering how much these plastic products from the dealerships cost. ill get back to you on that after i receive these jegs VC..

You called it. I sent an e-mail to Edelbrock to check. Here's their response.
"Unfortunately, we do not make any that will fit the LT1/LT4 motors. Thanks."
i once again appreciate all the wonderful help from you guys. i got a pair from jegs comin in soon... this is very strange but the jegs catalog that just came in lists the valve covers under TPI/LT1/LS1. pretty weird is summit's latest catalogs along with the summitracing website doesnt list em...
but these are the composites, should be in anytime now
My 92 used magnesium valve covers. I polished a set and they looked nice for about 6 months. You have to keep polishing them.

Maybe a coat of Zoop Seal.
there was a guy on the parts forum that had a pair of chevrolet centerbolt black with the words chevrolet and a bow tie script.
wanted $75 I think
But to fit roller rockers under the covers, I used 89 covers, and used a dremel motor to zip them after I broke the drippers off with pliers.
turned out good. well, it's a step, in case you need temporary ones

ok, i installed the jegs valve covers... they fit, but unfortunately they will not allow the alternator to fit... the back of the alternator rubs against the top of the VC... i was thinking about shaving the alt. if not, maybe buying those valve covers from berniesvette on here that was selling em for $50... reply soon bro, i appreciate it....

Shaving the alternator to fit is no big deal. We have to do this to fit the polished Proform covers that GMPP dealers sell. If you don't have a dremel to do the grinding it can be accomplished with a hand file.
im under the assumption you had to shave part of the bracket too? it would be more than likely not to fit if the bracket was installed as well im thinking and according to the pic.
if not, just that flat round boss is the only thing that should have to be shaved? i got an air sander that should take care of that, ill make an attempt...
if not, bernie if your still around i may be interested in your VCs.. thanks buddy

On the alternator ther are a couple strengthening ridges cast into the rear cover. You have to grind into the ridge to get the alt to clear the valve cover. With the alternator loosely fitted to the engine you can swing it to see what interferes with the valve cover, then go to the bench to grind or file.
For the bracket, it's impossible to grind enough from it to clear. A tuner suggested putting washers under the one end that is bolted to the intake, which raises the bracket enough to clear the top of the valve cover. That's where I point to the washers.
